Research team

I have two projects for which I am looking for bright students. The funding is to be obtained from applying to an EDPIF grant:

Ph. D. proposal :

With Supriya Krishnamurthy (Stockholm University), we aim at studying chemical reaction networks (CRN) using the theory of thermodynamic circuits. The goal is to see if some categories of CRNs are simpler to consider within this formalism. The thesis can be done half in Paris and half in Stockholm.

Ph. D. proposal :

With Bart Cleuren (Hasselt University), we would like to study non equilibrium phase transitions on a paradigmatic model (the so called Brownian donkey model introduced by Bart and Christian Van den Broeck). The goal of the project is to use a mixture of large deviation theory and mean field theories to find out if some properties of equilibrium phase transition exist out of equilibrium.

Master Thesis :

You can contact me if you would like to start a master thesis under my supervision (in case you already have a founding because my institution does not have grants for Master thesis students)

Former Ph. D. students of my team:

  • H. Vroylandt, Ph.D. student from 2015 to 2018, ``Thermodynamics and fluctuations of small machines'' URL, PDF
  • L. Chabane, Ph.D. student from 2018 to 2021, ``From rarity to typicality: the improbable journey of a large deviation'' URL, PDF, I have few printed copy available on request (send me your postal address by email).
  • P. Raux, Ph.D. student from 2021 to 2024, ``Circuit theory for thermodynamic devices in stationary nonequilibrium'', URL, PDF
